Terms of service
The rules for using Ingathery. The Bible study notes service at ingathery.com and app.ingathery.com.
Last updated: 7 August 2026
Who we are
Ingathery (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated from the United Kingdom by Elucidate Studio, run by Tim Dolan (currently as a sole trader).
Contact: use our contact form.
How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy. Our product commitments are in what we’ll never do.
Your agreement
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Ingathery, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
If you use Ingathery on behalf of a church, ministry, or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that use.
The service
Ingathery is a private notes app for Bible study. It lets you capture, organise, search, and export notes (typed, photographed, or uploaded), link them to Scripture references, and use built-in reference tools.
Ingathery is not a replacement for your own Bible, church, pastor, or professional advice. It is a tool for personal study and note-keeping.
We may add, change, or remove features over time.
Who can use Ingathery
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using Ingathery you confirm that you meet this requirement.
You must provide accurate account information (at minimum, a working email address) and keep access to that email secure, because it is how you sign in.
Your account
Your account is personal to you. Do not share sign-in access or let others use your account.
You are responsible for activity that happens through your account, unless you tell us promptly that your account has been compromised.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put the service or other users at risk, or are used abusively.
Your notes and content
You own your notes. Titles, bodies, photos, PDFs, tags, and other material you add remain yours.
To run Ingathery, you give us a limited licence to host, store, back up, sync, display back to you, process (for example OCR or Scripture reference detection), and transmit your content only as needed to provide the service you use, including optional features you turn on, such as email-in, cloud attachment storage, exports, or digests.
You must have the right to upload anything you add. Do not upload material that infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights.
You can export your notes at any time from the app. We will not block export as a way to keep you on the service. See what we’ll never do.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Ingathery for anything unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent;
- upload malware or try to break, overload, or probe the service or its security;
- scrape, reverse engineer, or access the service through automated means except where we explicitly allow it;
- use Ingathery to harass, abuse, or threaten others;
- resell or commercially exploit the service itself without our written permission.
We may remove content or restrict access if we reasonably believe it violates these rules or puts the service at risk.
Scripture and reference content
Ingathery includes Bible text and reference data to power passage panels, lookups, concordance, and similar tools. The default translation is the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), which is freely available. Other bundled or optional translations may have their own licence terms and attribution shown in the app.
You may use Scripture text displayed in Ingathery for your personal study and in normal exports of your own notes. You may not republish large portions of Bible text from Ingathery as a standalone Bible product or in a way that conflicts with the relevant translation’s licence.
Translations are provided for study convenience. We do not guarantee that any rendering is free from error. For serious study, compare translations and consult trusted teachers.
Third-party services
Parts of Ingathery rely on third parties — for example Google or Microsoft sign-in, Google Drive or OneDrive, email providers, and Stripe for billing. Your use of those services is also governed by their terms and policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, though we choose providers carefully and describe them in our privacy policy.
Availability
We aim to keep Ingathery reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect access. We take reasonable backups, but you should keep your own copies of important material (exports are there for that reason).
Pricing and billing
New accounts get a 16-day free trial with full access and no card required. After the trial, keeping access to new notes and attachments requires a paid subscription — see Pricing for current rates. Prices are shown in GBP if you're in the UK and USD otherwise, based on your location; we do not offer a way to choose the other currency.
Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details ourselves.
You can cancel any time from the app's Settings. Cancelling stops future billing, but you keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for — we do not offer refunds for the unused portion of a current period. Your notes are never deleted or locked for cancelling, and export remains available regardless of subscription status. See what we'll never do.
We will not surprise you with charges for a plan you did not choose. If we change prices for existing subscribers, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a UK consumer.
Ending your use
You may stop using Ingathery at any time. Export your notes first if you want a copy (Settings → Data).
To delete your account, go to Settings → Data → Danger zone in the app. Your data is kept for 30 days after you request deletion, then permanently removed. Sign in within 30 days to cancel. For immediate permanent deletion, use our contact form.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we must do so to comply with law, or if we discontinue the service. Where practical, we will give you a chance to export your notes first.
Disclaimers
Ingathery is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or fit for every purpose.
Ingathery does not provide pastoral, theological, medical, legal, or other professional advice. What you write and read in the app is your own responsibility.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you use Ingathery as a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK law. These terms do not affect those rights.
Subject to the above, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as lost profits, lost data where you could have exported, or lost opportunity), or for events outside our reasonable control.
Our total liability to you for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Ingathery in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) £50, except where a higher limit is required by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify account holders by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect where reasonable.
If you keep using Ingathery after updated terms take effect, you accept the new version. If you do not agree, you should stop using the service and delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction where consumer law allows.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the full agreement between you and us about Ingathery, unless we explicitly agree something else in writing.
We may assign our rights and obligations under these terms if the service is transferred to another operator; we will tell account holders if that happens.
